Hanging on the wall at the Grace Clinic lab in Lubbock – addressed to people referred to as “patient.”
Now that’s refreshing. To a group of people (and it was a huge group on this day, smack in the middle of flu season) who would probably rather be anywhere else and had precious little time, somebody noticed – and planned to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. The message: We recognize you have a life outside what it is we do here.
What if we reapplied that idea to other common experiences? Imagine the signs you may see that reflect tiny investments in your life, or the lives of others.
Hanging in a coffee shop: If your drink isn’t just right, let us know and we’ll give you another selection at no charge.
Above a traffic light: If your wait for cross traffic has been longer than 10 seconds with no one coming, proceed with caution and call this number immediately.
In an airport: If you need to call home, use the courtesy phone with unlimited long distance.
In a church bulletin: If today’s sermon doesn’t offer you three practical ways to apply this Biblical truth, please contact the pastor as soon as possible.
Etched onto an offering plate/bag: If you need financial assistance, contact the church immediately.
In a brokerage house: If you lose money based on my advice, the first $1,000 is on me.
On an automated phone system: Thank you for calling ________. If you’d like to speak to a live human voice, press zero immediately. If your wait is longer than 3 minutes, your service need will be handled at no charge.
What could you do at your place of service, employment, or community to say, in effect, “If I’m going to suck your blood, I will at least give back to you in some other way?”
