Coon in a BoxToday the convergence begins.  People from across the country will start heading this way for my daughter’s wedding Saturday.  And I’m feeling a bit like my masked friend here.

Come on in!  If all goes well, the decorating will be finished, the yard cleared of New Mexico dust, the housework completed, and the shelves lined with food and drinks.

It matters not if you’re impressed, so long as you’re served.  What’s ours is yours, and we’re your servants.  Make yourself at home.  Really.

And even if you find us peering out of a cardboard box, mi caja es su caja.

Andy, good luck! We just had Caroline’s 2nd birthday party, and I can relate to the feeling of the raccoon on some level! Of course, I can’t even begin to think what her wedding will be….ok, I’m stopping there!

Enjoy it!

Babe,

It is almost here, and we can say we finished well. At least the 5th phase of parenting. It really has gone by fast – now, all three are married. Wow. It will be a wild and crazy wedding week – but next week is the week to celebrate – 25 years being married to you, you have made parenting our children a joy.

I love you and am thankful for all the sacrifices you have made to give our children their dreams, you are amazing, truely an example of a Serving Father.

We are almost there….

@TN – Mattie, relish those moments; that’s what you’ll remember most on Caroline’s (and your other bride 2-b)wedding day. And the one lesson I’ve learned in all this – whatever you think a wedding costs, you’re wrong!

I know that you both have made many sacrifices, and it has paid off ten fold. You have 3 beautiful children who are serving the LORD and a grandchild to boot. Jim and I are so thankful for you two, for the christian values that you have taught your children.

Hey Andy, tell me that they cost less than I’m thinking…please, tell me that!

Well, let’s put it this way: I have all the pawn shops on speed dial. The credit card companies have put my picture on their Ten Most Wanted list. And that recurring father-of-the-bride joke about an offer to elope? That ain’t no joke!

Let’s see – Caroline’s 2… factor in school, braces, college, six bridesmaid dresses for OTHER girls’ weddings, etc. Add $138.50 for every episode of any type of wedding or bride TV show she ever watches or magazine article she reads. Then adjust for inflation… calculating… calculating… running out of room… recalculating… calling in the marriage counselor… recalculating…

Oh, just start handing it over now.
